Hello Sir, I had a query. This is a past cat question :
If the population of a town is p in the beginning of any year then it becomes 3+2p in the beginning of the next year. If the population in the beginning of 2019 is 1000, then the population in the beginning of 2034 will be :
A.(1003)15 + 6
B.(977)15 – 3
C.(1003)215 – 3
D.(977)214 + 3
Sir how do I use substitution in this case because recent Simcat also had a similar question in which Amit sir took 4 values instead of 100 (that was asked in question) and he reduced the entire formula by half of 4 eg: option was 3/4(3^100 -1)-50. So he reduced 100 to 4 and 50 to 2. But when I am applying the same in the previous question ,it doesnt work.
Please help.

See the first few values and see which option matches:
2019: 1000
2020: 2003 = 1003*2 – 3
2021: 4009 = 1003*2^2 – 3
2022: 8021 = 1003*2^3 – 3
…
2034: = 1003*2^15 – 3
