Here’s another DI set; Set 3 from SimCAT 1 (2014), a relatively calculative one.
Coming up on Thursday: set 2, featuring a “tournament-style” question set.

Hi, in last question if we consider looking it as the decrease in the no. of males from previous years as (no. of births) – (no.of deaths) i.e. 2.5, -10.5, -1.2, -1, 4.25, -3.75, -0.75, -1 from 2006 to 2013 respectively then we can say that there are only three years in which count of males actually reduced, i.e. 2006-2007 which is from 2.5 to -10.5, 2011-2012 which is 4.25 to -3.75, and 2012 to 2013 which is from -0.75 to -1..then the answer would be 3.. but you calculated as per the no. of male deaths greater than male births, which came out to be 6? what is incorrect in the above approach?

2.5, -10.5, -1.2, -1, 4.25, -3.75, -0.75, -1 is not the count of males. It is the change in the count of males! You are finding out the years in which the change reduced, not the actual value. (In engineering terms, you are asked about the first derivative and you are drawing conclusions about the second derivative)
If I tell you that you had some money, and over the next 6 years you got +5, -3, +7, -6, -5, -1 then how many times will the money with you reduce? Every time the change is negative right? So 4 times.

but it is also written, “as compared to the previous year”, so in this approach previous year is not taken into consideration?

In comparison to the previous year’s value, right? Not the previous year’s increase. If it had asked in which years the decrease was more than the previous year’s decrease, then…
